With its peculiar landscape, continually alternating throughout the island, Crete is considered the optimal destination for outdoor sports. Whether you choose to climb its steep cliffs, hike its paths, cross its gorges or cycle through its canyons, the olive groves, vineyards and formidable mountains as your backdrop are sure to reward you by keeping this excursion forever etched in your memory.
One of the most popular hiking trails in the “heart” of the Cretan countryside is located in Chania. The Samaria Gorge amidst the White Mountains is a route of international acclaim.
The famous E4 European path covers a large network of routes of great cultural, naturalistic and historical value. It crosses Crete from west to east, giving the hiker the opportunity to experience a wide range of landscapes of great diversity. Apart from the E4, however, there is a plethora of options in mapped routes.
